Can we get a tech com please? I don't mind modding. I know the bigger insts have very large tech coms but I figure a place for locals to post about tech without the whole fv watching could also come in handy. Probably best to call it technology but I don't mind tech either. Whatever yall want to roll with.

Can I just suggest the name !austech, or something else that makes it clear not just from the instance but also the name that it's intended to focus on local tech concerns.

I was thinking about this as well, we do have [email protected] but that is more or less dead and has a confusing name.

It might pick up again. It would be good to keep around as a separate sales and builds comm if it does pick up so as not to overwhelm a more general tech news and discussion comm.

I'd never heard the term bapc before. Maybe add a comms description in the sidebar to help folks find it.

Different target audiences I suppose. Definitely like the idea of a tech community for local knowledge and by having a broader reach it should be more successful. Perhaps the naming should make it clear that the aim is not to compete with the major communities

It's hard to compete in a niche where there's already a well-established incumbent (OzBargain). Almost everything submitted there is just links to the site anyway, which seems superfluous.

Is the bapc community just for building PCs, or more of a general place to post hardware deals?

Probably anything to do with computers and components
