Now that Cooler Master has shot themselves in the head with their dumb NR200 v2 case announcement, it's time to start looking elsewhere for its spiritual successor for compact and inexpensive sff builds.

Sure there are expensive limited production boutique cases that can fill the gap, like the upcoming NCASE M1EVO v2 (see the Machines & More youtube sneak peek video on this one), but with it's price likely approaching close to $300 US, it's in another level of case.

What has me really excited is the small DeepCool CH160 and CH160 digital sff cases that they revealed at the CES show recently. Both will be priced under $100 and broadly available at many retailers which puts them squarely in the NR200 market.

Here are some key differences from the NR200 that I'm seeing:

  • 172mm high cpu cooler support vs 156mm in the NR200

  • max 305mm triple slot gpu length vs 330mm triple slot gpu in NR200

  • 140mm ATX/SFX/SFX-L power supplies vs 130mm wide SFX power supply in NR200
