Pre-Notice: Yes, with 2 disks in RAID 1, I had this coming. I have selective data backups both in the cloud as at an offsite location with a friend of my most important data. But I want to see what options are there for recovering my other data before I call it KIA.
I have a QNAP NAS with 2 slots, where 1 disk gave SMART errors. I replaced it, let it rebuild the RAID 1 and now I see in the dashboard that there are no volumes found:
So my questions I have are:
-
Which data recovery software can I try to use? Which hardware do I need to buy to connect the 3.5 SATA disk? It is powered from the PSU, so a regular SATA to USB plug will not work I assume.
-
Which recovery services are there in Europe who you can recommend? Do you think it will cost less than 800 euro? (The "bounty" I put on that data in my head)
Over the weekend I built a server myself with 5 disks in raidz3, which allows up to 3 disks to fail. Still going to use the offsite and online backup, because it's the only certainty I have at this point.
Thank you for your input and have a nice day!
