My goal is to burn files like images (RAW/.CR3), ZIP-Files, and other stuff onto Blu-ray discs. The files should be encrypted and compressed (if possible) to save disc space.

But what I want to avoid is a medium dependency, so putting 1TB Data into a split zip file and burn them onto many discs should not be the solution.

The problem is that you only know the compression size after compressing, so trying each combination to find the optimal solution would take too long. Also compressing every file singularly is not an option, because compressing multiple files is generally more effective.

What I am looking for is an optimal combination of data, where the dependency on multiple discs is as low as possible and the Blu-rays are filled as full as possible.

How did you solve this problem or what is your strategy when burning discs?
