Computer RAM gets biggest upgrade in 25 years but it may be too little, too late — LPCAMM2 won't stop Apple, Intel and AMD from integrating memory directly on the CPU::LPCAMM2 is a revolution in RAM, but it faces an uphill struggle

Pffft. On-CPU RAM is never going to be all the RAM you have. AMD GPUs top out at, what, 16 GB? When you could triple that for a hundred bucks, as two sticks of DDR5?

This will be neat for laptops and handheld gaming. Same deal as integrating okay GPUs into the CPU package. Sometimes okay is good enough. But so long as your machine has an actual graphics card, you're gonna have some RAM sticks stuck in there.

Honestly, with the way GPUs handle parallelism, even they might be better-off with a few slots for RAM. Certainly it'd give Nvidia more excuses for strapping high-end cores with whatever memory they had left over.
