Just put down a deposit for a wood heater for the living room.

I cannot wait for winter with a roaring fire and scary movies.

Coffee in front of a fireplace is one of lifes simple treasures. even just sitting and watching a roaring fire on a cold night.

Lovely sunrise, hot air ballons over Carlton, biridies are up and cheeping, Bill and Ted are patiently waiting for breakfast.

I miss the Young Seagoons already. They fill the house with so much love and joy 😭

Marketplace win: this item is not available!!

Miss Meow's unused climbing poles should also be heading off soon to be destroyed by another cat that really enjoys scratching them to pieces.

Edit: cat poles now also gone, yay!

GO BACK TO BED!

This is getting repetitive now.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

I love how you assume that we were in bed in the first place 😁

Some dude on the escalator at Spencer Street just farted in my face. Pure, unadulterated methane right on my inhale.

I feel sick 🀒

I had a lighter, no idea why I didn't think of that lol N E X T T I M E

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

Especially with the price of methane these days, what a waste.

Vet is giving Gibson some pain relief just in case she hurt herself, but there's nothing outwardly wrong.

However, I have to sedate her in advance next time as she was rather unhappy with the vet....

Excellent news!! I'm glad everything went (semi) well for everyone.

Edit - my toddler grade spelling.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

oooh they finally were stupid enough to parrot the line that "the driveway is unsafe to use".

Specifically in regards to traffic during access and egress.

I'm fairly certain both the council and vic roads are going to have something fairly expletive to say about that....

I have been fighting with auspost literally for years. Finally just submitted a complaint to the ombudsman, sent the reference number to AusPost and my issue was miraculously fixed and I received two different apologies.

According to auspost there is no driveway and even if we had one it would not be safe to use at any time of the day.

well 1) I'm standing in it right now and 2) I got six pages (now) of logs from aramex, fastway pet circle, tnt, temu, couriers please, budget direct, amazon, soilworx, civic, eco247, DHL and indeed, Auspost yourselves that says you are fulla sheeeeeet

Up at 6am for the β€œcat trying to puke on carpet sprint to the tiled floor”. Grrr

Urk. That pumping sound they make 🀒

I'm so tired and I still have two days of work πŸ˜πŸ˜±πŸ˜΅πŸ’€

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

I have successfully completed two tasks today that required phone calls. I am really terrible at those - I'm not sure if it's because I will take any excuse to delay a phone call or because the times I like to sit down and do organisation type stuff generally fall outside of business hours.

Doing my best to stay out of this "doctor killed in home invasion" and "Old man pushed into water" stories. Not doing a good job, I admit... but man what is going on here lately?! Be interesting to see how this plays out politically. Andrews would've already called a presser, announced another well-meaning-but-ultimately-useless-taskforce. If Libs had half a brain cell to share between them they'd be attacking the Allan government on being soft, and I hate to say it but that'd be a pretty easy picture to paint at the moment.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 9 months ago (3 children)

crime ain't upticking. Reporting of crime in sensationalised ways is. The fact you went straight to the politics of it is your answer as to why.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

It's also a classic example of the availability heuristic.

Two notable youth crime events happened recently; therefore, youth crime must be increasing. It's a non sequitur. But it does unfortunately work on the populace -- and has since time immemorial.

It's not the government though? It's a judicial issue.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (3 children)

Correct. But government write the laws. They invest or ignore public housing or rehabilitation programs, drug policies. edit: Also need to point out that facts have not baring on a channel 7 "special "investigation""

Melbourne/Australia just seems to be getting more feral.

Edit: Cripes, now I’ve seen about the tent cities and shipping containers being rented out with single beds inside. It’s fucked

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

I find it depressing. Yeah I know they are young, but there are zero real consequences for their actions, the kids are probably laughing and boasting of their horrific acts thinking they are top shit. It’ll be a slap on the wrist, released on bail and free to go do some more pushing off piers, bashing, robbing, murdering. Our government has decided this is acceptable because it’s not happening in their own back yards, so there’s no plans for rehab programs, penalties, interventions etc. It’s awful.

Definitely feeling the mileage today. And that's without taking one of the clients to Oakleigh for escorted shopping. πŸ˜‚.
In other news, the cops asked me yesterday if I had a spare key so they didn't have to call in a locksmith, so I took it down to where the car's being held and had a chance to look at it - it looks fine from the outside aside from missing number plates. They've taken a few things that were inside the car including the bluetooth thingy, but I couldn't tell if the radio was still there.
Just gotta wait for forensics to go over it, and then the insurance company will get it and go over it, and then all being well I get it back!

Ugh, I'm just wiped. I haven't been consuming the best food for a few weeks and it's starting to rear its ugly head. Gyah. Sads.

I just want the microwave from 5th Element. I feel this would partially solve my problems. Hehe.

chicken. Good.

Sent the REA a pet request form earlier this week. Can they say no? How long do I wait before I chase up on my application?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

In addition to the other responses, they have two weeks to respond, no response by 2 weeks = can keep pet.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

iirc, REs/owners can't deny the request unless they can prove to vcat they have a good reason.

"Renters who want to have a pet in the property must ask their rental provider (landlord) for permission. Rental providers must have a good reason to refuse the renter’s request. Rental providers can apply to VCAT for an order to refuse permission."

-34 minutes from smoke detector person’s eta. Will they make their 2 hour window or will I chuck a tanty and put the chain on the door?

Last night was a rough one. I got up to pee, then once I got back to sleep Melbcat stood on my locked but open laptop to restart a loud video. I settled her but a while later she was sick on the carpet, then she was fussy and got me up to sort her biscuits out a few times. I slept in stretches.

This morning she was straining for a little pee so I need to try and get a sample or sort a lift to the vet :(

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I caught uber pets to the vet today if that helps. Hope she feels better soon ❀️

Another day, another decal. This one is a bit hidden in the corner of the entrance.

Trying 4 cookies. Banana Oat, Banana Cocoa Oat, Banana Blueberry Oat and Banana Cocoa Blueberry oat. Bit worried about the blueberry/choc one...

edit: Yeah.... no. No. Less said about all 4 of 'em the better.

I'm nearly better, I no longer feel like crying from pain and can sleep a bit better. Have seen so much tv πŸ˜€

I watched Painkillers, about oxycontin. The series is just like watching Narcos but with no shoot outs.

They could have used "Tuyo" ( the narcos theme ) as the theme tune for the sackler family
