Other have said it, but there wasn't the freezing rain like last time.
That being said, it still didn't stop my brain from turning every single pop and groan of the house settling into "the pipes just burst, now panic!", so that sucked...
But roads are clear, the frost isn't sticking and so far *knocks on wood, i still have power.
School was canceled due to the poor road conditions, so I had fun at home. My '94 ford ranger doesn't traction control or winter tires, so I drifted around my front lawn.
You know you're a true Texan when you mow your front lawn and you find your car.
I'm 20 miles south of Sherman TX and while I didn't see nearly as much snow/ice as they did I did get a lovely stealth ice that coated my neighborhood. Temps got to 7-8°f I was prepared and we were comfortable. Until today I hadn't heard of any busted pipes but my office and some other people have been flooded by them now lol.
People panic bought on the weekend which was fun to watch.
Had a bit of snow and gusty cold wind. No power outages but I'm on the same grid as a couple of hospitals and a massive data center so they never cut me off by choice
Hospitals usually have their own backup, so not sure the grid cares.
I don't really know how it all works but I live on the edge of an entire medical district. I've never had a black out last more than 15 minutes
I'm just happy we didn't lose power or water. Had to cancel some appointments because I didn't want to risk driving even though there was barely any precipitation (therefore ice). Now I hope my car starts when I go out later.
No precipitation to speak of so it wasn't that bad. Nothing really closed down and the roads were good. Supposed to be 72 degrees (22c) tomorrow, thank fuck.
Not too bad. We had a tiny bit of snow and some ice, but didn't lose power which was nice since we have reptiles and I was not looking forward to trying to keep them alive.
I also got to stress test my Freeze Meisters (exterior faucet attachment that drips water), and thankfully they worked.
Im in Oklahoma. It was cold, with a day of powdery dry snow that we normally don't get. Might have had 3"-4" of coverage. The schools were closed until today. We never lost any utilities, just stayed at home, got high, and did some baking.
It was above freezing today and yesterday, so we have some fun icy patches that haven't cleared.
Not a fan. My house isn’t built for when the temp starts dipping into the teens. Glad we’re finally getting a break today with some slightly above freezing temps and some sunshine.
Could’ve been A LOT WORSE so I am still thankful.
It's been rough and it's not over yet. Lots of broken pipes and sprinkler heads. Thankfully there wasn't much ice on the roads or it would've been very dangerous.
I am worried about the future, as long as I've been alive I've only been in negative wind chills 2 times in Texas and the last one was 2021. Last weekend, i saw wind chill around -5 or -8 and this was after a particularly hot summer with plenty of Temps around 110. Usually we are in the 40s with dips down to the 20s when it gets cold.
And of course, the government is doing more to male the problems worse tha better
So it's true, a wizard did it, after all.
