I like bitter-sweet endings. A fifth season is probably never coming since it has been 12 years and Joshinoya-sensei's seiyuu has passed away... Unusually long series for slice of life. The art style is iconic and never gets old. I actually attended an art school for a year, so I can relate to it much more than the usual Japanese high school setup.
