If you want the content from the communities, on the homepage select the POSTS and SUBSCRIBED radiobuttons at the top
If you want a list of subbed communities go to the COMMUNITIES link and select the SUBSCRIBED radiobutton
Did either of those do what you wanted?
For me when I'm logged in i can filter the feed by Subscribed / local / all. I'm not sure if that is something that needs to be configured on the server or if that is available for all servers though, not familiar enough with Lemmy for that.
Did you switch to 'Subscribed'?
Yes! If you click on your display name in the top right corner, then scroll down, on the right side there is an option called Type, you can select Subscribed from there and it'll automatically set that as your default when you navigate to your Lemmy instance.
You can also change the Sort Type from that same page. Remember that this will just change the default, you will still be able to change it from the home page.
Also, don't forget to save your changes at the very bottom of the page.
