I knew it was of course. But I’ve finally experienced an eye opening situation for myself.
Lost all my friends after graduation 2 years ago. Reached out to one old friend last year, hoping to revive the friendship. Didn’t go anywhere. Tried again with a different friend, Jay, on new years day. She ignored me. Yet both still gleefully followed me up Instagram and facebook. Still looking at my posts and my stories. Never liking anything, just lurking.
Because they never unfollwed me, I figured they’d still care enough about me to get back in touch if I took the initiative. Having them on my socials gave me a bit of hope. But nope. They don’t want to. “So why even follow me then?” I thought, as I removed Jay from my socials, as well as deleting her phone number.
She’s evidently done with me. So why keep pretending. It feels liberating in a way. Usually I’m the one worrying about losing followers. Now I’m the one doing the removing.
