Let us know why you're still a fan of starcitizen and/or CIG!

Personally, I've been following this game since it was first announced. I'm not a golden ticket holder, but I was one of the first 100,000 to sign up and I still hold a Rear Admiral package in my hangar. I'll get that signed collectors box some day 😆.

I'm just a huge fan of everything related to space and space ships. The idea of flying out into the unknown on my own is my ultimate dream and this game comes closer than anything to replicating that idea.

I've been through all the stages of grief with this game multiple times and now I'm just a jaded whale. Now I just watch development cycles go by and wait for a day when the game will be more playable. I'm super excited for SQ42 and I have high hopes for it.

I don't play as much as I used too, but I'm slowly adding to my setup as time goes on. I've got a set of Virpil sticks and pedals and I just really enjoy taking my ships out for a spin with them. I hope to see you all out in the 'verse in time!

I'm a newer backer (2018) but I feel like I'm in the same boat. I just love space and I want to fly some spaceshits!

I come and go, and play patches here and there. There's plenty of games to play in the meantime, but this one is the big one!

My status is similar to yours. Just kinda waiting for CIG to do something.

Thanks for making this instance! I hope it picks up because we need a place that we can control outselves.

I'm one of those people that's mostly waiting for SQ42 :D I really loved Freelancer and those style of space games. The PU is fun, but I'm really looking forward to a good storyline and to see how the acting from all these A-list stars turns out.

I saw some clips from the leaks last year that look amazing and my hype levels are way up again. I still have my hopes up that they'll eventually show something new at Citizencon because the little we've seen is insane good!

I don’t really play much now (I gotta upgrade my pc) But I read about the game in a magazine and thought “that looks cool” and bought the starter pack. Just the amazing scale but also detail is what pulled me in. And it still amazes me.

Oh man, gaming magazines... that takes me back. Imagine how big the demo CD for Star Citizen would be 😂

You've probably made out like a bandit with only a starter pack. Some days my wallet wishes I would have gone so full whale on the game. It's nice to have the ships, but we're still missing half the ones we've paid for and it's a crazy waiting game.

Just the amazing scale but also detail is what pulled me in.

This is really it right here. Going from walking on the surface of a moon, to moments later zipping through space is something that you don't get anywhere else.

Funny how it makes you feel old because this was only like 6 years ago. I never had demo discs growing up, I’m too young for that :)

As funny as it may sound, I'm mostly interested in FPS. SC has all the aspects of the best shooter games out there... CIG just needs to make it work right. Loot like Tarkov, movement a lot like PUBG, the concept of PvP across an entire planet surface... what's not to love? And I really like the direction towards more realistic movement and injuries. Games like COD just aren't that fun anymore and I'm looking for something that you need to put a little more thought and effort into to be successful.

Unfortunately FPS is in a really bad state, with all the bunny hopping in AC and server desync in PU. NPC bunker missions can be fun when the NPCs work, but it's usually just like shooting mannequins.

Like most of the rest of you, I just love space. I recently played Flight of Nova and the feeling of blasting off in a realistic space shuttle was all I could really ask of from a game. Star Citizen gives me that feeling a lot when I'm flying past moons and landing on planet surfaces. It promises to give that full space-fairing experience that we've all be waiting for.

I came over from E:D a couple years ago and haven't looked back. Development can be rough from patch to patch, but SC has so much potential that I'm here for the long run!

[-] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I came from elite as well. I still wish fdev would put more effort into that game because it does hold a lot of potential. I get the feeling they're ready to sunset it.

Getting into star citizen isn't easy, but it's been a pretty fun time. I see how it will offer the same types of experiences as elite with a lot more depth.

I played a bit of elite from time to time, but never considered it anything more than a massive grind. I had fun with it, but I never understood why that community was so adamant about it being a good game. Other probably feel the same about the SC community :D

I came over to SC from Elite Dangerous during the whole Odyssey fiasco. The SC community was pretty welcoming of all the E:D refugees during that time, and I'm hoping the move to Lemmy will be similar!

I just got into star citizen but I'm loving it so far! Maybe I'm on the honeymoon phase, but the potential here is massive!

I stay because it's a meme goldmine. I came here to repost memes.

I played Elite a while back, then kinda faded out. A close friend and my brother mentioned SC a few years ago, and we all downloaded it. We play SC when it works and we need a break from Rust. Overall, love it, I just wish it was more stable. It's been cool to see features being built out, even if it breaks the game regularly.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Luckily 3.19 has been pretty stable, but yeah it's hard to know when to play and when to sit out a patch. It's fun to watch things change over time.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

3.19 has been pretty good, at least after the first few days. 3.18 was a trainwreck at release though, I couldn't log in for a few weeks

Just joined here because I want to help add more content to the Lemmy verse. I play SC because I love flying my Constellation around. Can't wait to take it across the galaxy!

[-] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I've been playing for a few years and I still find the game fun. The last couple years have been both very slow in development, and at the same time a lot of new and cool features have come online. I'm still logging in regularly because playing with a group is a ton of fun and there's a lot of stuff I'm still looking forward too!

Im mostly in delivery, trading and salvage game loops. Love the level of complexity and just relax somewhere out in the stars.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

One of the biggest things I'm looking forward to is just visiting all the solar systems. If we ever make it to 100 systems, it's going to be amazing!

[-] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Man I don't know why I'm still following SC. Maybe it's sunk cost or stokholm syndrome 😂 I find myself caring less and less as development gets slower and slower, but I'll always pay attention at least until SQ42 comes out. SQ42 will really make or break this community.
