MODERATORS

Welcome to this week's Weekly Thread! This time around, our topic is:

What Books Live Up to the Hype?

Whether you heard about it from BookTok, a trusted friend, or a Buzzfeed listicle, what book lived up to or even surpassed the hype surround it?

For me, it would have to be Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman. Reddit was crazy about this book, so I gave it a try and absolutely loved it. I now have a Medieval Horror itch that I keep trying to scratch.

What about you?

Funny that you mention Buehlman, and I agree about Between Two Fires, because when I read the title of this post the first book that came to mind was one of his others, The Lesser Dead. Absolutely lived up to all the recommendations I saw for it.

For me it was The Fisherman by John Langan. The book was just everything I ever wanted. It was cosmic and big, and the characters were perfect. It was creepy and weird and I loved it

100% agree. Read it a couple years ago and haven't found anything as complex/well written. Between two fires was a close 2nd.
