The hard part of recreating the Reddit experience while kbin gets off the ground is that there’s very little stuff to repost.

As an old Redditor, I hated reposts or crossposts. This is not creating contents, it’s just flooding a sub/magazine with the same thing. Karma farming was a dumb thing that screwed content diversity.

Does kbin have a "karma" of sorts? Because I'm now wondering if removing that mechanism wouldn't be good for originality. The only effect karma had on me was that I wanted to get more of it, like a score to increase. And it's definitely a major contributor to reposting

I agree. This is a great thing to see. I’d rather see fresh content instead of bots reposting the same topics in multiple subs. This feels more like a community with actual people. Plus, the “Reddit speak” was kind of annoying. Done for karma farming but otherwise meaningless.

I think it's a good opportunity for renewal: since Kbin is so young, it doesn't have the vices or the overwhelming amount of contents from Reddit, while also having a simpler and less intimidating UI.
So if the user sees a magazine/community that seems even a little interesting, I think it's worth subscribing. There's a chance it's a good community the user always skipped on Reddit for the aforementioned reasons.
And that's also what I've been doing, and I certainly don't regret.

I've never been a Reddit user, can you explain what reposting is?
