Once again it's the conservative/religious zealots that are obsessed with children's sexuality. I have never once wondered about what is inside anyone else's pants, let alone wondering that about literal kids. Bonkers.

Once again, America's most successful export is right wing insanity.

I'm not sure right wing insanity is really an American thing. This shit is happening all over the world unfortunately.

These people need to be less comfortable. By which I mean they should have immediate, uncomfortable consequences to their actions. Like loony toons style thrown out of the building kind of consequences. Or just getting punched in the face.

You can't fight hate with hate, no matter how good it feels.

Shut the fuck up. Millions of people hated Nazism so you didn’t have to grow up under it.

Shame this brainrot has been imported into Canada.

It's just like the story of trans mascs going into female bathrooms in Florida or whatever. These mascs have facial hair and look like cis dudes, yet the new law requires them to use the bathroom of their assigned gender, so they comply. When they comply and go into the female bathroom they are attacked as bystanders thought that they were cis men going into the bathroom. This isn't a bug, its a feature.

It's almost like there was no actual problem with bathrooms until bigots made it an issue. Almost like they are... hypocrites?!

This is bizarre to me. I can understand that a person could see a child that doesn't look like what they would expect a little girl to look like. But how is the next thought I must have proof of what this child's genitals look like instead of maybe I should reevaluate my expectations.

I still have trouble really figuring out WHY IT EVEN MATTERS to these people. Beyond being able to have a default pronoun to use, it just really isn't important to lump people into conveniently labelled boxes. Conveniently labelled boxes are how things like harmful stereotypes and racism happen. Why can't we all just default to being people, and we just treat everybody with respect.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Because they have been told it matters. That's it.

Trump recently joked on stage at a rally that nobody cared about trans issues 5 years ago. The audience laughed. I don't think either side of that incident had enough self-awareness to realize what that statement implies.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

@QHC the amount of things that whole statement implies is staggering, not least of which being that none of them are considering trans people to be "anybody"... sigh, this world....

And yet Democrats are the ones who groom children. This is the "fuck your feelings" crowd. Their grandkid gets beat in a competition, so they bully and harass a 9 y/o. Despicable people.

I've seen conservatives actually suggest genital checks. Remember that every accusation is an admission for them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Aren't there already laws on the books in some states exactly for this?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is the future conservatives want

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I don't think they have a particular vision for the future they want. In fact, I don't think most are aware they are supporting or opposing real life policies which have real effects on people's lives.

I think most of them believe everyone is posturing and playing pretend at the "theater of life", to signal their virtues for everyone to see and understand who is on their side and who isn't.

The reason I think this is the countless examples where something either affects them personally or causes some issue which gains attention, and they declare that wasn't their intention within the same breath they make sure everyone understands they still are conservative.

Take the many "pro life" women who find themselves in a life threatening situation with their pregnancy, eat absolute shit getting kicked around trying to find a hospital which will save their life with a necessary abortion, and then come up and say "I'm still 100% pro life but this isn't what's supposed to happen".

I really think they believe everything they hear, no matter they support or oppose it, is just PR with no real consequences for anyone, because they had been living the same mundane life no matter what the bigwigs did or said, for decades.

Edit: The fundamental cause of this behavior is a lack of empathy, I think.
