Hi,

My mother-in-law has a decent amount of cash in her house, mostly in 1000 DKK bills.

She is so afraid to take it to the bank because she doesn't know what to say about where she got it. She has just been saving up for years, and there's no illegal way she obtained it.

If we would like to exchange it for Euros or another currency, what is the best way to do that? Can I just walk into a currency kiosk or a bank and exchange 20k or 30k DKK, or is there a limit? Do exchange kiosks accept 1000 DKK bills?

Thank you in advance.

1000 dkk bills becomes noit useble in 2025.

And kiosk or shops are getting tired of exchanging 1000 dkk bills, so use them for big buys or go to the bank.

She can use them to pay, but go to bigger stores, they are more likely to have the cash. But do not buy for low amounts.

Plus the bank, the few that have cash should take them.
