We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stopdrinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

I’ll be hosting this week, so, good morning, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT 😁!

Had an intense craving last night right as I walked to the corner store where I would usually pick up. Managed to sit my ass on the curb for a few, call a friend and chat till it passed, and went home with a six pack of coke zero instead of booze.

I'm thinking about quitting smoking soon as well. Anyone had experience with that? I don't wanna risk the two weeks I've put together if others think it might make early sobriety harder. Would love to hear your thoughts

I have not smoked and I think it's great that you are quitting. Although I'm not a coke zero fan. Has this weird flavor that reminds me of lemon pledge (not that I've tasted it!) I do like the Pepsi zero....

Honestly, no fuckin way could I have given up my smokes during my first month... I don't know how your will power is, but for me, no damn way. Although, after 28 days sober, I fucked that up, too. Just for a night, but either way.. If you can handle both, then take care of your sweet assed lungs, but I don't think I'm ready to give up my cigarettes, yet. Maybe this year, maybe not.. Good luck with it. Glad to hear you turned a craving into a triumph!

Yeah I think I might wait. I need to quit though cuz they keep getting more expensive and I haven't had a job since November. Plus I chain smoke especially when I'm early in sobriety. Helps with the nerves and cravings - or at least it feels like it does.

Right. Can't blame ya, there. I'm choochin two packs a day, creature of habit. But, I'm not a spring chicken anymore, not entirely out of shape or anything, still active and all, but I'm feeling the out of breath thing these days and I'd like to ditch em just for health and stamina reasons. I kinda like to smoke, though... Keeps my hands engaged.

Yeah for sure. I've been seeing these things called Fum which are just flavored air, not even vapor. No idea if they're any good or safe, but probably no worse than smoking so I might try one

Tried the vape thing years ago and it didn't make a dent in it for me.. but, I know others that got off cigarettes by using them. Never hurts you give it a shot.
