Hej, allesammen!

I am a first year student in Denmark and I've been here for about 6 months now, living in Sønderborg.

A mixture of factors like seasonal depression and being away from home has got me really on edge recently. I really want to change this fact and start feeling comfortable here. I'll be studying for the next 3 years after all 😃

I've been studying the language from September and, while I'm not the best, I can say it is quite interesting, so I'll keep on going. I think one of the major factors that will make a difference is to embrace the culture and get immersed. What in your opinion would be the way to do this? And also can you give some recommendations like books, activities, music, food, just everything in general?

I'll be very happy to read your replies!

Thank you for your time!

I recommend Reading The Copenhagen Trilogy by Tove Ditlevsen. She is one of my favorite Danish authors, and really popular at the moment (she died more than 40 years ago).

In Sønderborg, you are close to such an important part of Danish history - hopefully you can visit some of the sites and learn more about the part of the country that has been Danish and German amd Danish again!

If you want to watch sports popular in your region, try to get tickets for ice hockey, handball or speedway.
