Hi everyone!

Me and my partner (Danish) have been living in The Netherlands for 7 years and want to move to Copenhagen next month. We have a flat and everything, we just need to figure out the easiest way to take our furniture with.

Is there any moving service you have had experience with or some renting company that you recommend?

Obviously there is an option to rent a van in Denmark, drive it down to NL, fill it up and drive it back, but I think for that hustle and price a one way rental (if possible) or an actual service is the same price and less hassle.

Any advice appreciated!

Back then, i paid about 1200€ including everything (km, petrol, weekend rental, international etc) using Bo-Rent in NL.

The cheapest moving company i could find wanted over 3000€.

Today, i wouldn't think twice about just paying for a moving company, but back then when funds weren't as 'available', it was a different story.

You could also consider how much of your furniture is worth keeping, and just renting a small van for the critical stuff and sell the rest in NL.

It depends on how much you're willing to pay for convenience. Not going to lie, doing 3x1100km (BoZ->Copenhagen) in a weekend - including filling and emptying the moving truck was not the most pleasant thing in the world.

Yeah no we're keeping like sofa and bed and stuff for sure, we already did that math. Even if we bought new ikea stuff in DK it still makes sense. A new sofa+bed is like 1000+ already and if we're already renting a van then it makes much more sense to just bring it with. Especially since the value of both of these things has skyrocketed since we got them.

We're waiting on a quote from a moving company as well, but yeah, how much is the convenience worth is a different question. I'd say quite a lot as only one of us has a license (mine has to be renewed and isn't valid at the moment, a difficult estonian system) and I just had a big surgery so carrying and packing are also... a bit difficult. (I know, what great timing of everything)

But which company did you rent the car from if you remember?

I edited my comment to show who i used, but maybe it didn't go through.

I used Bo-Rent in Bergen op Zoom.

good luck with it!

There's a bit smaller trucks also which are significantly more confortable when driving longer distances so judge properly how much space you actually need.
