And those are not infinite. If we dont use them wisely, we will run into shortages.
30,000 was enough to overwhelm NYC, with a population of 23 million. It would take roughly 400,000 to match that ratio nationwide. We have had 7.5 million encouters since Biden took over, and those are just the ones that got caught, and its not like we werent getting 200,000 every year before. I wouldnt be surprised if a solid 5% of people in America were illegals at this point.

No. Illegal entry and overstays should still be handled/prosecuted. But for those that want to immigrate the process should be usable, as of right now it isn't. There are people who have been on the wait list for years, spending thousand of dollars that they don't have to begin with because latin american jobs don't pay well. So lots of then try to bypass it.
Instead or pissing away resources on it, it would be far better to let them work and pay taxes. A lot of them are already paying taxes. Fine by me if they stay.
Immigrants do not qualify for most forms of welfare. My girlfriend was born in the U.S., lived in a foreign country for most of her life, then came back and became disabled. She was not eligible for a shit load of things because she had no work history, despite being a full U.S. citizen.
For actual immigrants it is even worse. So this point of yours doesn't hold any water, especially considering that immigrants are a net benefit to the economy (and therefore tax revenue).

The baby boomers exploded the population by 50%, and they didn't start working until their teens.
Comparatively, most immigrants are able bodied when they get here from day one, and able to provide for themselves unlike during the baby boomers.
We handled the baby boomers, therefore we can handle a fraction of the impact of immigration.

The process is already usable. It just takes a bit because 7 million in 3 years, we as a country can not take that many that quickly, so we make them wait their turn.
Yes paying sales when you buy a stick of gum is technically paying taxes, but no. They are not stealing people's identities just so they can pay taxes.
Schools are welfare. Fire fighters are welfare. Roads are welfare (just ask /c/fuckcars about this one) Welfare is not just straight up giving people medicare and medicaid.

We don't really need to increase taxes for this, we have the money, but we are passing it away doing stupid things like funding the genocide in Gaza, giving the rich tax breaks, etc.
But regardless, I don't mind if my taxes go up for it, as it is an important issue that actually effects people. I'd rather live in a country where the entire population is paying taxes and having rights.
And at the end of the day, immigrants are a net positive for the economy in most cases. Them paying taxes will lower the need for me to pay taxes. It's an upfront cost to get them set up with their lives here, but I'm willing to pay for it.
