He also noted that there’s been no cost-of-living adjustment for lawmakers. At $174,000 a year, they make the same wage they did 15 years ago.

Maybe they should skip the avocado toast.

Federal minimum wage hasn't moved in fifteen years either. Frank Lucas, the subject of the quote, voted against raising it in 2019.

Last year [2018], data from the Census Bureau showed 1 in 6 Oklahomans lived below the poverty line of $24,600 for a family of four before taxes.
