Alternatively, birds use vibrant coloring to attract mates.
Devil's advocate:
Isn't the vast majority of examples where the male is the vibrant coloured one and the female is plain looking?
Time to dress in drag and do the hula.

So I've run into traffic and somehow I still don't have a girlfriend, I don't understand it.
