Hi, I’ve been offered a position as Social Media Manager and things seem a bit shady, so I’m trying to find a good union to become a member of. However I’ve been looking up unions in Denmark for a good part of the day and I can’t figure out which one is for people who work in social media.

There’s the Dansk Journalistforbund, they say on their website it’s for journalists, media and communications, so would that be the most appropriate for me?

Are there unions “for all types of work” that you would recommend? Some are quite expensive so I wanna make sure I make the best decision.

TIA!

If you have an academic degree I would suggest DM or DJØF. They are the two major players on the majority of academic graduates, including anyone working within communications and marketing.

There are smaller communication unions like Dansk Journalistforbund or Kommunikation & Sprog, but there is likely not a whole lot you can receive there that you can't get from the larger unions.

I would not really recommend HK - communication and marketing is a niche area for them at best, and they are unlikely to have the experience to give specialised legal or career advice compared to the larger AC-unions.
