Hi!
I see similar posts here from time to time, it's unclear how active this sub is for English speaking people moving or living in Denmark. I would love to get advice or hear about others on their experience moving to Denmark from the US. We are middle-aged and artists, so we have a lot of personal belongings we wish to take with us. We also have two older cats that we refuse to leave behind. My spouse has Danish citizenship and I will be applying for permanent citizenship in Denmark.
Some examples of what I am curious about:
- where did you get your biometrics done? I am in the PNW and the nearest consulate is in Palo Alto. The ministry of foreign affairs website (in Denmark) doesn't have a working hyperlink to alternate options. We plan on calling them, but that doesn't negate my interest in other's experience
- if you moved the contents of your home, how did it go? Which relocation service did you use, or did you just ship boxes of personal items?
- did you fly pets out there, and if so, how did it go?
I have a ton of other questions-- but these are the big ones currently.
Thanks!

Original Title: I moving to Denmark with my Danish spouse in four months. I am an American looking to connect with other Americans who have made this move; mostly about moving logistics and paperwork hurdles. Apologies for posting in English.

We don't yet have a place to live and that part is the most stressful. My spouse is looking for jobs now. Once that part is established we will have the city/region identified and we can get on the waiting list for housing options. We understand that we may have to rent from a private listing before we can rent or buy from a nonprofit.
We have family and friends there, mainly in Odense and Aarhus. So he is relying on their hospitality during the pre-moving process.
My spouse is expecting us to land in the Nordborg and Sønderborg area, which I am not familiar with. I was hoping to be closer to Aarhus, but we will go where the employment is.
