I realized this when playing a game of "Never Have I Ever" the other day. Someone used never having gone to Africa as an answer and noticed I didn't put a finger down so asked where'd I gone.
When I answered with Uganda when I was 17, they asked why.
I jokingly said "oh, back then I loved Jesus and went on a mission for him".
They laughed and asked if I hated him now.
I almost said yes, but then realized that's not actually what atheism means. So I ended up responding, "Naw, I just don't believe that he was the son of god anymore."
Can't hate someone if you can't prove they ever existed.
I've actually found out that there's some decent historical evidence that supports the fact that a man named Jesus, from Nazareth, who was an outspoken critic of Roman rule, was a real guy with a sizable following in the first decade of the CE. Oh, and he probably was crucified by the Romans for talking so much shit about them.
But all the miracles and coming back to life stuff is complete bunk.
Do go on... like the actual evidence part not the you have knowledge part...
I've heard the same about the evidence of him existing, but I don't get why religious people can't entertain the notion that some other guy wrote some stuff that was, you know, possibly made up? I can point to an entire library section of stuff that people have written that isn't true. Maybe the guy who talked about seeing him walking on water really didn't? Nah, far more believable that he actually did defy physics.
Counterpoint: Dolores Umbridge
I actually cannot rewatch that movie because of her. Infuriating.
Try me buddy...
