There's the small matter of his Dad, a former editor of The Times, having written a book about how to profit from disaster capitalism.

This is what people not from the UK (and a fair few who are) always fail to recognise: the Upper Class are engaged in economic war against everyone else, their goal is to maintain a local hegemony and they have been doing this continuously since at least the 11th Century.
A revolution would be glorious.

That's something, I guess. Maybe we wouldn't know specifically how he took advantage of it because the trades aren't public record.
There's every reason to get believe the worst about this guy, he's so evil he would be out of place as a comic book villain. Well, maybe unless it was one of those edgy political comics.
That said the cash is just a side effect and the actual reason he put this together, as i understand it, is to get revenge for Britain banning fox hunting.
