About 90% of gun crimes in the USA are committed using handguns. The lowest hanging fruit for reducing gun crimes (including shootings) would be to outlaw handguns.
Even the liberal justices would smack that down. We should focus on what is achievable. To my mind, that is background checks and measures to reduce domestic violence. Almost every case of a mass shooter involves a history of domestic violence.
Chicago had a handgun ban for a while. The Supreme Court struck it down. I forget when but probably in the last 10-15 years.
Yea, and it didn't work. The gun is one factor, another big factor is the person who's holding it. Like Tinidril said, background checks and domestic violence reduction.
