It does make a mess but my cat used to like these so I bought a new one every few months.

Oh yeah. We have a bunch of those already, but he is a big cat and I noticed he doesn't like to rest on those. He does love scratching them though. Getting him a large piece of cardboard is more like getting him a bed haha
