We are a Pro-Conservative forum. Posts must have a clear pro-conservative, or anti left-wing bias. We are interested in promoting conservatism and discussing things that might get ignored elsewhere. All sources are acceptable, however reputable sources with a reputation for factual reporting are preferred.

Dissent is allowed in the comments, but try to be constructive; if you do not agree, then provide a reason which is backed up by references or a reasonable alternative interpretation of the provided facts. That means the left wing is welcome to state their opinions, but please keep it in good faith.
A polite request, not a rule, if you feel the need to report a comment, please don't reply to it.

Becuase they're not trying "to do the right thing". That's a nice strawman. Look at NY, Martha's Vineyard. The didn't want these people in their back yards
Helping people get back on their feet, getting them the work they want is the leat we can do given that we played a hand in their countries' respective downfalls. It was the U.S. that played the biggest role in destabilizing Latin America.
Helping them is the right thing to do.
That's not really what happened with that. Martha's Vineyard is a set of island with a small population of about 17,000. For reference, my city alone has a couple hundred thousand.
So when they were sent shit loads of immigrants, they couldn't handle it. The solution is to spread the load. Border states shouldn't take the brunt of it, neither should small population centers.
No I'm not. Communism is largely a failure of an economic system, just as capitalism is. I'm not a capitalist or a communist, both systems are broken.
Immigrants actually, generally, are beneficial for economies. When they come here, they generally do so for the work, they pay taxes, and they make businesses. Anecdotally, I know if my Costa Rican extended family was able to immigrate, they would reopen their mom and pop store here.

I outright said that communism is a failure.
I thought we were in agreement that the immigration process needs reformed to make it easier for people to legally immigrate? I was operating under that assumption.
No it isn't. Both systems are failures.
So you would be ok with a Swedish version of capitalism? Including a generous welfare state?
You can't just look at the parts that are good and ignore the bad parts and claim its a success.
"Capitalism works"
To start off, that is an atrocious article. The writer clearly has a lot of bias because they wrote a book called "In defense of capitalism", and it basis its argument off of a survey from the heritage foundation. Your standards of evidence are at bedrock level.
Merely to point out how "capitalism always works", even by your own standards is wrong.
I imagine you wouldn't be too convinced if a CCP member told you that.
Do you want to have an actual conversation, or not?
Read what I said.
