And the sad part is young people keep voting for these dishonest clowns who are going to suck your wallet dry.
Who needs more help - somebody who had worked their entire life and saved, paid off their home, kids moved out long ago. . .
Or
A thirty year old, not yet in their prime earning years trying to raise 3 kids while paying off their mortgage and car loan.
Wake up Australia
Not that I agree with the government considering introducing new taxes after they explicitly stated that they wouldn't, but your proposed scenario is a little disingenuous (also ending your comment with 'Wake up
x
' is fairly cliche at this point). There are plenty of disadvantaged elderly Australians who are living in poverty and being treated like second class citizens based on their age, I'm sure that in most cases this money would be used to aid this group of people rather than the cashed up, multi-property owning boomers.
The mentioned task force is also considering increasing taxes for the mentioned wealthy older generation to help support their peers who haven't done so well for themselves, which sounds like a more fair proposition to me (someone who is not in that group).
There are always exceptions at both ends of the spectrum, but the broad averages are as I said.
Do not let them fool you into thinking it will be someone else paying for it, somehow it is always you.
Hilarious you post this but also hype conservative nonsense
Conservatives care about our kids and do not think they should have to pay for our wasteful spending.
My generation benefits from this largess, so go ahead and pay if you want. But as a parent and grandparent I would prefer to see you spend this money on creating a healthy environment for you and your kids.
But believe me when I tell you our generation has had the opportunity to save, pay off our house, pay off our car, have the kids move out.
I still remember, life was a lot tougher financially when our family was young.
But if you want to pay, go ahead. The government will never say no.
You really are showing how out of touch you are with reality.
Tell me what reality is
reality has a “left wing” bias.
So tell me what reality is, I listening
reality is boomers had it good. they paid pennies for college. they paid pennies for houses. And they have the gall to call the next generation lazy.
I agree. So why do you want the younger generation to pay this tax surcharge that will benefit us boomers.
I'm confused.
your generation is the reason this is happening
But you keep insisting on paying the tax surcharge.
when will you accept blame for destroying this world for the next generation
