I decided to give the last service a miss, but I did finally go on it a few weeks ago and grabbed some pics:
N Sets definitely have the best seats of all the trains/carriages (that are still in regular service, anyways), but H sets are fairly decent as well. Anything's better than the concrete seats they put on the "commuter" vlos at least
We had a 5 or so min stop at Melton, so I decided to hop off and walk up to the front
By the time we got to Bacchus, there were like 3 other people still on, so I seized the opportunity to get a pic of the interior (no clue why the lights show as that yellow, they deffo weren't...)
I was continuing on to Ballarat, so I walked across to the other platform and got some final pics
Then my vlo arrived, which I thought was a good opportunity to show old vs new
Then just before my vlo was about to leave, it had a clear path to run into Maddingley Yards
We both got paths at the same time, so we raced
We won :)
And 2 bonus pics:
Apparently 8pm on a Monday evening isn't a very popular time to head out to Ballarat, so my vlo was empty
And coming back from Wendouree it was even emptier
