As a Sox fan I was expecting him to be traded this off season. Last year of his contract and he did seem to have some motivational issues in the last couple of years. Just weird to see him go to the Yankees though. But other than that I've always liked Dugie, so I hope he does well there. Just not too well lol
I have to agree with you, I knew his trade was coming and I can’t say I’m nuts about him going to NY. The other thing is, I don’t recognize any of the names we traded him for, I was hoping if we dealt him out we’d get some recognizable talent in return.
Yeah that would've been nice. Although I don't blame Breslow for going for pitching depth, there's a real lack of pitching in the minors. Let's hope they pan out
Yeah and it does seem like at least one has major league experience so there’s a possibility he adds to the bullpen and I saw another was minor league pitcher of the year this year so that’s fairly promising too.
I'm actually pretty happy with this trade. Three pitching prospects isn't the flashy-splashy sort of headline we're thirsty for, but it suggests that Breslow is looking to build long-term pitching depth rather than spend together a fleeting juggernaut. Plus, not signing a big name in return for Dugie frees up $9mil that can theoretically be put towards the pipe dream player of your choice.
