Discuss classic films (~1973 or earlier) that will hopefully bring more awareness of them as both entertainment as well as an art form.

None at all unfortunately, I don't know even where to start. Anything you could recommend for a newbie? I've stumbled across and enjoyed films like "12 angry men" and "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" before.
How about "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre", "Rear Window", or "White Heat"? They all have big stars and are fabulous.
I tend to turn to musicals, they got me through the pandemic, especially those made during the Great Depression (USA). Not sure if those are appealing to you, I never expected to love them.
That's some good suggestions, I think I'll give "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" a go.
Enjoy! BTW, Walter Huston (old dude in the treaure hunters) is director John Huston's father! Imagine that.
