Might be interesting depending on the cost but the 5800X3D is so expensive in Australia that the 7800X3D is going for basically the same price... Might just be better ditching my AM4 or settling for a 5700X instead...

yea but getting a 7800x3d also means upgrading your whole system except the gpu?

Not whole system, just motherboard and RAM. I could get some cheapies for ~$175 USD so it's no a massive difference.

You would need a new cpu cooler unless your current one is am5 compatible.

I'd need a new one regardless if I went with a 5800X3D, 5700X or 7800X3D so it's not an extra cost in comparison. The only exception is if I were to go with a 7600.

You can use AM4 compatible coolers on AM5.
