So are 5800X 3D & 5700X 3D good enough to push near 4090 GPU performance levels without being a big bottleneck?

Look at some of the recent reviews of the 14th gen Intel. They still include 5800X3D in the charts, and it definitely punches above its weight. No regrets as an owner......

yep it beats the 14th gen intel more often than id expect for such an old chip

Depends on your resolution/refresh rate target. I have 5800x3d and 4090 with LG C2 (4k/120hz), and I am pretty much never CPU bottlenecked.

Same setup and same result. 5800X3D is a good match for a 4090. And the two are very power efficient per fps. So if you want to keep the heat down at a certain target fps at 4k, then you can’t do much better than this combo assuming you require a 4090s power to begin with.
