Hi everyone,

I'm moving into a new apartment soon and I want to use a spare room as a home office. I'm kind of a noobie when it comes to connecting everything together so I need some help with that.

I'm trying to hook up my Macbook and PC to the same monitor and peripherals so that I can switch easily between the two.

With this setup, I want to be able to charge my MacBook and keep it connected to the system through only one cable. I'll have the USB switch on my desk so that if I want to switch between machines, I only need to push the button on the USB switch and change the input on the monitor.

I visualized it below, would this do the job?

I still need to buy the Hub for my Macbook as well as the USB Switch. Is there anything I'll need to take into consideration when looking for these devices?

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I have my MacBook and PC with a USB-C hub. All I usually have to do is swap the cable going into the hub. https://dancharblog.wordpress.com/2020/07/20/add-usb-c-with-dp-alt-mode-to-your-desktop-pc/
