Replacement for r/steamdeck_linux.

As Lemmy doesn't have flairs yet, you can use these prefixes to indicate what type of post you have made, eg:
[Flair] My post title

The following is a list of suggested flairs:
[Discussion] - General discussion.
[Help] - A request for help or support.
[News] - News about the deck.
[PSA] - Sharing important information.
[Game] - News / info about a game on the deck.
[Update] - An update to a previous post.
[Meta] - Discussion about this community.

Some more Steam Deck specific flairs:
[Boot Screen] - Custom boot screens/videos.
[Selling] - If you are selling your deck.

These are not enforced, but they are encouraged.

What settings? What impact on gameplay?

For over a year now, I've just been buying games, hitting download, waiting, then hitting the big'ol green "PLAY" button, and the game starts up same as windows.

The whole point of proton is that it's not up to devs to "support" linux, it doesn't matter if they don't even try to, proton has gotten so damn good at pretending to be windows that it doesn't matter anymore.

Even my windows VR games work with it.

The windows versions of games in proton, sometimes run better than poorly made native linux ports.
