I currently have an 12th gen Intel i5 framework and love it so far, but can't help thinking the grass is greener on the red side.

My main niggles are with the battery life and overheating to the point where it blue screens when playing somewhat intensive games, but even just watching Youtube videos can make the fan go very loud and uncomfortable to have on my lap. I've heard these are better on AMD thanks to the power effiency, but I'm not sure if it's worth getting a whole new board and memory. I could still use the old board as a media player/retro emulation machine for the living room but spending 1000 australian dollars when my laptop is already working is kinda :/

I guess my main question is for people who have upgraded from the 12th gen Intel to the AMD and if the jump was worth it for you. Also if anyone has tips on battling overheating (I already have my laptop on power saving mode on battery which does help a bit).

If you want to upgrade, is it possible to just order the motherboard and swap them out? Mabye the old mobo could get some use as a server or a spare PC, inside of a case, for family. When AMD was during production they teased some 3D printed parts that you can make to utilize old mobo.
