If you want to build a PC with SnowBlind mod, then I really recommend the Fractal Design Torrent Compact white and the LG Flatron L1919S. The Torrent Compact fits a 19" monitor almost perfectly, and this monitor has a one-sided PCB and a very small 5V VGA controller.
I made this mod several times and can confirm that they fit the best

In one sense you have a point ... The display won't be clear as an actual backlit screen and limited in what you choose to put on it to be visible.

In another sense ... Yeah sorry its still cool as hell looking even for useless "ambience". Especially when well fitted over a bright white case interior.
