Having two 2023/24 players on the list may be an indication that the start of this season is a bit of an outlier in general, especially given Guirassy has a higher goals per app rate (1.67) than Kane (1.55). It gets even more pronounced when you calculate by minutes played: Kane is averaging a goal every 57 minutes whilst Guirassy is scoring every 44 minutes. They have a very similar G/A rate, with Guirassy just edging it.
It will be interesting to see if both players maintain that same scoring rate of the first third of the season through the next 23 games.
I’d bet a lot of money Guirassy falls off hard. I’d also bet a lot of money Kane maintains a similar rate for the rest of the season
I don’t know. Normally I’d agree, especially since Guirassy had three disastrous seasons with Köln a while back, and since this is his first season where he’s scoring like that.
However, having watched him play, I’m actually not sure. He’s not just scoring, it’s also the way he links up with his team and plays in general. It’s like something clicked in him. He’s so much more confident than before, his presence in Stuttgart’s attacking play is amazing. I am not so sure that he drops off this season, unless the entire Stuttgart team drops off hard.
plenty of one season wonders appeared throught the years. He’s decent, but let’s not over rate him
He has an aura that makes the whole team immediatly play much more confident. Us playing with our without him is day and night.
And it was like this last season as well. He might be a bit better at converting his chances this season, but he has been playing at a really high level pretty much ever since the start here in Stuttgart.
The bundesliga has more goals per game than any of the other TOP 5 leagues. It's not surprising to see players with high goal scoring ratio.
Remember Paco Alcacer ?
You are agreeing with my post, then?
But this has been the case for years. The bundesliga is known to be a very attacking league, it's not anything new.
My post is about the scoring rate of both players (especially combined) potentially being an indicator the start of the season is an outlier, given the rates themselves are outliers, even for the Bundesliga.
I was just also pointing out the Bundesliga has a higher per game scoring rate this season largely because of Kane and Guirassy. Between them they have scored (32) nearly 10% of all goals up until now in the league. The next four players below them in the scoring rankings combined have scored one fewer goal (31).
