It was a joke. I was doing the meme. There's literally a Rem animation embedded into the post text. This whole post is a Rem joke -- Rem is the one who has been forgotten!

Damn, that went over my head even though I should have gotten it without the explanation. 🙁

I understood remposting but missed the title joke. Damn... you're 0 for 3 there even though it's a fine joke. But the "...who?" reaction got me. ALSO HI you're on sdf!? I thought about joining that way back in the day but I was annoyed that a "free shell" had payment options. At the time I think it was just a single donation and I was being prissy. Now I guess I can more or less do all of that stuff myself with enough time but ugh. Maybe I go join the SDF. Robotech will return...

edit: actually I just saw that this post is old but it only just became visible for me; sry fediverse confusion

Better late than never! With smaller communities sometimes you have to make do with 20 day old posts lol

I have to confess that I'm not actually an oldschool SDF user. I only just recently got introduced to the group through their Lemmy instance about a month ago!

As you say, the concept of a public-access UNIX server isn't terribly practical -- less so now than ever. With that being said, it's exactly the kind of environment that fosters a fun and eccentric dork culture. Even better; these dorks have been doing brick-and-mortar self-hosted stuff for longer than there's been an internet to host things on. I find it personally reassuring to know that my account & content are hosted by a FOSS-first & non-profit 501c7 group with competent governance and a 26 year pedigree. Join us!
