I had a couple ideas for building custom portable enclosures, but I'm afraid they might end up too dense to be comfortable carrying around. For example, I've seen that "tablet" project that u/whatthefilament posted last year (and it was a beautiful piece of engineering!) but it looks quite bulky and heavy. I'm curious if the mainboard is the cause of that, or if a cleverer (and/or more expensive lol) design could keep things slimmer and lighter.

Not much, but screen + touch input + board + battery + custom enclosure is really hard to do thin and light DIY.

Certainly a challenge, and tbh it might just be pie-in-the-sky thinking on my end. But I'm trying to figure out where it lies between "difficult" and "impossible"
