Hi there, I just won an old motherboard from an IBM X3200 M3 with a Xeon X3440 and 2x Micron 2GB 1333 MHz REG-ECC DDR3. However, I’ll upgrade it to run my first homelab server (it will probably run Unraid, with some VMs, Docker containers, and Plex + ARR Suite). The thing is that the motherboard has triple channel capabilities, so I don’t really know which is the best alternative for my use case.

24GB - 6x4GB 1333 MHz REG-ECC DDR3

vs

32GB - 4x8GB 1333 MHz REG-ECC DDR3

Which would you guys pick?

Btw, i don't pay for electricity, so, i don't really care that much about DDR3 not being the efficiency god lol

More capacity is what i would pick. You probably wont notice the difference speed-wise, and you can go to 48 if you get another 2 sticks later.
