I'm having an issue where comments aren't edited at all (not the same as other issues I don't think where it gets cached and changed, as far as I can tell). Recent ones, old ones, random one in between, regardless of sub. I don't have skip gilded actions on, saved actions, or mod distinguished. Anyone know what's going on? I've ran it twice and it didn't catch them, and I've targeted specific subs and it still wouldn't grab em.

Is there another service that will do it? I'm not trying to delete the account, I just want everything edited to what I want to say.

Yesterday I followed the advice in this Reddit thread (am I allowed to post a Reddit link?) Scroll down to where /u/I_know_bubblesort answers the question about why it's happening and gives the fork that works.

This is the fork, which I used successfully yesterday. It took 7 hours!!

On another note, I'd love it if someone could tell me why it's called a fork?

Forking is a concept of making copy of the main repository to your account so that you can make modifications in it.

From my very basic understanding, it’s like creating a fork in the road. Each path gets you to where you want to go, but the path is different. If you’re driving to LA on the main highway, someone might fork off that with a better path; they will both get you to LA but the forked path might be: faster, prettier, less road rage, etc. The forked path is still reliant upon the original but now it is in a repository that they can make changes to it without affecting the original.

@Izzgo
Forking tree branches are also a good analogy. Point being that they all stem from the same root but basically branch off of it into another direction.

Oh I think that's an even better analogy, thank you!!

Ahhh fork in the road, that makes good sense. Thanks for the reply.

Thank you for this!! I'm trying these after work today.

Neither this nor the original seem to work with banned accounts.

I ran it for 8hrs and still it wasn't finished so I gave up. Edited 3.5k comments and that's only comments I made in the past year 💀 I have 90k+ comment karma and almost 7yrs on reddit. I think it would take days to complete it and hence I gave up.

I only had 4,000 comments and it ran for about 6 hours for me. It's because the fork adds a 5-second delay between each request and frankly that's the only way you're going to get every message edited. You can try resorting your comments by top controversial etc but I didn't find that to help much.

Pkolyvas fork worked so far! You are awesome, stranger

I had about 5k comments over the same time, but I loved being in game threads for like 6 different sports lmao. So just a shit ton of throw away comments about specific plays and actions.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same lol I follow two sports as well and ended up over 5k combined comments and submissions. Finally today I was able to nuke my reddit account in totality. Felt nostalgic and was bit of a bittersweet moment haha.

Lol yeah, felt bad unsubbing from all the places I've spent a decade or longer, but is what it is.

I'm not nuking it, but I just unsubbed from everything, deleted the Boost shortcut, and I'll be re-running the delete suite again tonight to hopefully finish up the re-writes.
