Anyone know how these rules will actually work? For example, will link aggregation sites like... lemmy be a target? Legally, how does one insert a boundary between news in google search and (say) a community like CanadaPolitics or WorldNews in lemmy? Yikes!
Easy. Google is a for profit company and lemmy.ca isn't.

I don't see any wording in the legislation that exempts the intermediary, in fact simply being BIG and POPULAR can make you a target.
IE if lemmy.ca gained substantial following in Canada the news outlets could claim it isn't fair.
