Should've been Haaland imo but it was clear the World Cup fairytale ending was too special for them to not give the award to Messi.
For me halaands lack of anything but goals hinders him quite a bit while being a ghost from quarters on in the cl. Messi singlehandedly lead argentina to the wc and did 40 g/a in 40 games in a shitshow of a team also battling covid. Halaand has plenty of time to win a ballon dor in the future.
