Primarily a visit to the museum (possibly with an Exhibition Building tour) and to the Systems Garden at Melbourne University (which I put a link to on the main page). Depending on time and enthusiasm I might do a breakfast at Birrarung Marr and the self-guided tour of the State Library.

I keep finding lots of interesting things though, so there will probably be more days to come. I haven't really been doing much like that since pre-Covid.

Oooo! Is the museum visit to see the Indian textiles exhibit that's currently on? That looks amazing and I want to go to that!

I was primarily planning on looking at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre as I have been learning more about that area lately, but the textiles exhibit is also on my list.

Thanks for the info about the systems garden, I’m going to check that out

Was it your post about the systems garden? It looks cool and I'd like a guided tour I think, just to get the best out of it knowledge wise.

Melbourne Uni sometimes do guided tours around the campus, although when I worked there the tour didn’t include System Gardens. It does show the River Red Gums on the sports oval though, which pre-date European invasion of Australia.

Yes it was. The uni subject on gardening I am doing included the video I linked and I thought it looked worth a visit. They are in the process of creating a lot of interactive material for the garden which sounds really good.

If you’re interested in stuff at the State Library, although it’s currently booked out, the Dome to Catacomb is an amazing behind-the-scenes tour that will likely add more dates. https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/whats-on/dome-to-catacomb-tour

There are so many amazing tours available for all sorts of places around Melbourne. I managed to get onto a behind the scenes tour of the Library archives a few years ago as part of the Melbourne open weekends which was really fascinating. I also did a tour of the Arts Centre including the costume archives, also highly recommended.

I was starting to do quite a few of those things, but then Covid happened and I'm really only just starting to think about it again now.
