It's got more to do with a new law in Canada that would charge Facebook for using/sharing content from Canadian media companies.

In short, it was a poorly thought out and executed plan that wound up hurting Canadian media companies.

Hopefully it actually does what it intended (stop Morons from creating echo chambers of false information) since all news is no longer being platformed by Meta in Canada.

So this is an actual result of Canada changing the media laws, and not your usual evil corporate antics. Although I'm certain Meta is finding ways to be evil about it, this one's actually Canadian made!

If anything, this is a perfect example of rage bait headlines generating misinformation. The plus is that it won't really be shared on most social media in Canada.
