The OP is correct about one thing - escalating petty theft to a deadly conflict is generally a very stupid thing to do in the real world.

Yeah you give them the wallet, they run off, you draw the gun and yell STUPID IDIOTS MISSED THE MONEY IN MY SHOE HAHA. they turn around. You get wallet back.
