Why? What can lightening do that USB can't? Is there anything even slightly better about the way lightening connectors are manufactured or used?
USB has been the world's standard for connectivity and powering for decades and lightening was nothing more than an attempt to keep customers in the "ecosystem".
The amount of lightening connectors I've seen taped up is shocking, you never see that with USB.
Lightning is fucking outdated and very slow.
But they didn't, because it would cut into their profits.
That is the only reason proprietary ports are created.
