"The company now expects to exceed $1.7 billion in free cash flow for the third quarter of 2023, in part due to the strong performance of 'Barbie' as well as incremental impact from strike-related factors," the entertainment giant says in a regulatory filing.

wouldn't it be cheaper to just pay your employees appropriately?

Probably, but that would make them appear weak at the monthly Supervillain Club meeting, can't have that!

I thought you were joking. But you're not.

Zaslav will speak at a Goldman Sachs investor conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, along with other Hollywood leaders.

Fuck, why can't this be fictional? And their only retort will be similar to "from my point of view, the jedi are evil".

Why is it that every time I see something evil it’s followed by “Evil McBastard will be speaking at a Goldman Sachs conference.”

Because while it's an exaggeration to say that money is the root of all evil, it's true that obsession with money at the expense of everything else is the root of most of the worst evil. And that's where Goldman Sachs comes in, wearing a suit sewn from the calloused and otherwise abused skin of poor people.

Figuratively, of course.

The actual scripture says "the love of money is the root of all evil", which seems pretty accurate to me.

Yeah I know and agree. I did some needless paraphrasing to make absolutely sure that everyone knew exactly what I was talking about lol

It's not always about money, sometimes it's about control. Look at companies dragging overperforming WFH employees back to the office...
